Cave Masters
Final Fantasy Resonance has 15 Cave Masters, optional bosses in small caves across Lapis, from the Marauder (level 15) in Grandshelt to the Tartarosaurus, Titanoraidos and Malboro Menace in the Kingdom of Pharm. Each drops Magicite for awakening Visions, and beating all 15 unlocks the Gold trophy The Harder They Fall.
Final Fantasy Resonance has 15 Cave Masters: optional bosses that guard small caves around the world of Lapis, each named after the cave it lives in, from the level 15 Marauder in a cave north of Grandport Harbor (Game8) to three level 60 monsters in the Kingdom of Pharm (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026). They all drop some form of Magicite, the material that awakens Visions, and the recommended level shows when you stand at the cave mouth (PowerPyx). Square Enix calls them "Mighty Foes" that guard caverns and drop magicite (RPG Site, Aug 24, 2026). GamerFuzion's demo guide lists the first one plainly: "Marauder Cave; drops a Magicite Shard".

Sources: PowerPyx (order, region, cave, level), GameRant (where, level, weakness), Game8 (chapter; its list does not include Salome or Jotunn). Each cave carries the Cave Master's name ("Marauder Cave", "Shoggoth Cave").
Where the sources disagree: PowerPyx puts the Tartarosaurus at level 60, GameRant and Game8 at 50. PowerPyx says only the first four can be reached before the airship, while Game8 lists Gogmagog and Pyroviper under Chapter 4. Necromonarch and Humbaba also appear among RPG Site's Chapter 6 fights (RPG Site), while Game8 files them under Chapter 7.
The early six: HP and tips
Game8's boss list gives HP for the six Cave Masters you can meet before Mysidia:
| Cave Master | Level | HP | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marauder | 15 | 30,000 | Wind; an optional detour at the end of Chapter 1, in the cave north of the port |
| Shoggoth | 25 | 45,500 | Earth and Water; RPG Site says it is immune to physical damage |
| Rukh | 26 | 46,800 | Wind |
| Mindflayer | 28 | 52,000 | Earth; Esuna does not work, so bring status protection |
| Gogmagog | 34 | 78,000 | Light and Wind |
| Pyroviper | 37 | 89,700 | Water; Rain with Fire Sprite Earrings tanks with Multi-Cover, Protect and Shell |

The Marauder is the first Magicite most players can earn by force. KultZ's beginner's guide sends you to its cave for the sixth Magicite Shard on his list of early Magicite and warns it is hard if you come too early: be at least level 12, and the shard shows on the rewards screen after the win. PowerPyx lists 15, the level the cave entrance recommends. Game8 calls the Cave Masters superbosses with more complex attack patterns and more damage than story bosses, so come above the posted level if you can (Game8).
The late nine
Mysidia's pair (Salome and Jotunn), the Olderion and Gronoa caves and the Pharm trio open with the airship in Chapter 5 and run from level 39 to 60. Tips the guides give:
- Humbaba: weak to Wind; guard against paralysis (RPG Site).
- Necromonarch: weak to Fire and Light (GameRant).
- Titanoraidos: weak to Ice; its Disaster attack can inflict Doom (PowerPyx).
- Tartarosaurus: weak to Ice; level 60 or 50 depending on the guide.
- Malboro Varietas and Malboro Menace: both weak to Fire (GameRant).
PowerPyx's roadmap leaves the high-level Cave Masters for after the story, once substories, Legendary Arms and Adamantite weapons are done. The Best Party and Builds page and EXP, Gil and MRP Farming help you get there.
Rewards and achievements
Every Cave Master drops Magicite: GameRant says a Magicite Shard, a regular Magicite or a Magicite Cryst, scaled to the boss's level (GameRant), and PowerPyx says the same. Game8's list shows a Magicite Shard for each. Magicite awakens a Vision through its three stars at a Moogle of Light; see Visions and Abilities, AP and Mastery Rank.
