Lasswell
Lasswell is Rain's childhood friend and deputy commander in Final Fantasy Resonance, a katana-wielding Breaker who favors ice, playable from the start; guides build him to stagger enemies with Cloud or Firion, and he is voiced by Alejandro Saab in English and Yusuke Kobayashi in Japanese.
Lasswell is the second hero of Final Fantasy Resonance: a knight of Grandshelt, deputy commander of Rain's airship squadron, and a Breaker whose job is to fill enemies' stagger gauges. Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show trailer opens on the two of them, Rain asking "You know about it, Lasswell?" and Lasswell answering with the legend that "should ruin befall the crystals, the world shall soon follow". Square Enix's profile calls him "serious and disciplined", with skills equal to Rain's; orphaned young, he was raised by Rain's family and "often finds himself dragged along by Rain's impulsive nature" (RPG Site, Jun 13, 2026). Alejandro Saab voices him in English and Yusuke Kobayashi in Japanese.

Stats and role
Lasswell hits hard and moves early. In Game8's table of maximum stats his Speed of 552 is second only to Nichol's 553, and the fastest of the opening trio, with strong Strength and Magic both (Game8, updated Oct 24, 2026):
| HP | MP | Strength | Stamina | Magic | Spirit | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5,972 | 510 | 465 | 321 | 429 | 304 | 552 |

IGN calls him an all-rounder between physical and magic attackers. DualShockers ranks him the second best party member, the main damage dealer, for Absolving Hailstorm, which hits several enemies, and Tranquility in Tumult, which hits five times; in an earlier guide it also says it used Lasswell as its main caster for much of the game (DualShockers, Oct 22, 2026).
Square Enix's Pixel Trailer shows Absolving Hailstorm: its name over the screen as arcs of blue light sweep across the enemy side, with Rain, Lasswell, Lid and Nichol in the party. His Limit Burst, Null Moon, costs one bar, deals physical damage to one enemy and makes it easier to stagger for three turns (Game8, read Oct 25, 2026), which sets up the rest of the party.
Best Visions and builds
IGN's Vision guide calls Lasswell "the team's only breaker" and pairs him with Bartz, whose three elements fill gaps in his coverage and build stagger quickly, then fills in Arms Akimbo, Double Action and Half MP Cost with critical and stagger boosts learned from Cloud, Sephiroth and Tronn. The written guides differ in their first pick:
- Game8 leads with Firion: Arms Akimbo lets him act twice a turn, and Bladeblitz hits all enemies for 0 MP. Alternatives are Squall (Double Action, with Arms Akimbo), Tidus (Reckless Abandonment, for staggering), Bartz (Dual Spellblade, up to eight attacks a turn with Arms Akimbo and Double Action), Sephiroth (critical-hit passives) and Camille (Water and non-elemental attacks at Awakening level 3) (Game8, updated Oct 24, 2026).
- Destructoid picks Cloud, Firion or Tidus (Destructoid, Oct 24, 2026).
- Game8's stagger build for the early game: Cloud with the Iwakirimaru, Black Garb, Stagger Ring and Idaten's Shoes, plus Restore MP on Stagger and Restore HP on Stagger (Game8, updated Oct 21, 2026). Game8's party plans keep Cloud on him through Chapter 3, with Firion as the other choice (Game8, updated Oct 23, 2026).
IGN's guide says it kept Cloud on Lasswell for its whole playthrough: Cloud is a Breaker too, his Mastery Rank 5 bonus unlocks Deathblow for heavy critical hits, and his built-in Libra makes scanning weaknesses easy. Because Lasswell already favors Ice, Game8's plan for Aether, the Ice-weak boss of Chapter 2, gives Ice Visions to everyone except him (Game8). Every Vision is on Visions and the rankings on Best Visions.
Dialogue stat choice
At the Rebel Hideout in Chapter 4, Lasswell's dialogue choice gives a permanent MP +10, Strength +3 or Speed +3 (GameRant, Oct 23, 2026). Game8 recommends Strength.
Story and substory
Spoilers for Chapters 3 and 7 follow.
Pocket Tactics reads Lasswell's arc as a struggle between what is lawful and what is morally right. In Chapter 3 he and Nichol leave the party for a while in Olderion's Old Town, and you cannot leave until that section ends (Game8, updated Oct 22, 2026).
His substory, "The Twin Titleholders", starts by examining the west side of the Gaberada Inn once Chapter 7 begins. It sends you to beat an Adamandelion on the island north of the Water Shrine, back to Gaberada, and on to the Lost Cave, and rewards the Crest of Criticality with a permanent HP +100, MP +30, Strength +30 and Speed +20 (RPG Site, Oct 22, 2026). His ultimate weapon, Shisui, comes from Aileen's forge (Crafting and Adamantite).
