How Long to Beat
Square Enix says Final Fantasy Resonance's main story takes 30 to 40 hours; Famitsu was reported at 20 to 30 and GameRant estimates 40 to 60, or 60 to 80 with every sub quest, while PowerPyx puts the Platinum at 50 to 60 hours and 100% runs about 70.
Final Fantasy Resonance takes 30 to 40 hours to beat by Square Enix's own estimate, counting the main campaign alone (Siliconera, Oct 15, 2026). Most players will take longer: IGN's reviewer finished in "about 45 hours", including all of the side quests marked on the map and some optional mini bosses, and guide writers' estimates run from 50 to 60 hours for the Platinum to over 100 for everything (GameRant, Oct 22, 2026). Every figure below says whose it is, because they measure different things.

For its guide to pairing the 26 Visions, IGN had spent 65 hours with the game, the day it published its guide (Best Visions).
How long each chapter takes
Chapters are not equal. No-commentary playthroughs give a rough idea of each one's length, including fights, cutscenes and the optional detours their players chose:
| Chapter | Title | PLAYGAMES video (PS5 Pro) | CGInferno video |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prologue and 1 | Tailing the Truth | 4 h 19 min | 4 h 36 min (the demo, Sep 4, 2026) |
| 2 | Eternal Blue | 2 h 56 min | 2 h 58 min |
| 3 | Wardens of the Aquapolis | 3 h 15 min | |
| 4 | Banner Oath | 3 h 52 min | |
| 5 | Scars of Time | 6 h 32 min | |
| 6 | Tranquility | 6 h 30 min | |
| 7 | Reckoning | 2 h 40 min | |
| 8 | Beyond Hope, with the ending | 4 h 11 min | |
| All | 34 h 14 min |
PLAYGAMES' eight videos add up to 34 hours 14 minutes, inside Square Enix's 30 to 40 hour estimate for the story. Chapters 5 and 6 are the longest, and Chapter 5 is where the airship arrives and opens most of the world: GameRant counts 14 sub quests opening in it, and PowerPyx 17 Tablet Shards, more than any other chapter. Chapter by chapter guides start at Walkthrough.

Ways to play faster or longer
- Battle speed. Battles run at 1.5x or 2.0x speed (Automaton, Jun 10, 2026), and cinematic Resonance attacks can be skipped one by one (GamingTrend, Oct 20, 2026).
- Difficulty. Casual, Normal and Expert can be changed at any time (Game8, read Oct 25, 2026), and no achievement depends on difficulty, so everything can be done on Casual (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026; Difficulty Settings).
- The demo. The free demo covers the prologue and Chapter 1, about 3 to 5 hours, and its save carries into the full game on the same platform (Demo and Save Transfer).
- Random encounters stay on until late: turning them off requires beating a level 95 enemy (Worthplaying, Oct 20, 2026).
- Nothing important is missable. PowerPyx counts 177 collectibles, all available in free roam after the story (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026), so completionists need only one playthrough; see Missables for the few chests Game8 flags.
- After the credits. There is no New Game Plus. A clear save returns you to just before the final boss with the whole map open (Game8, Oct 24, 2026), where the Ultima Weapon, the Colosseum and the Chamber of Arms wait.

Beginner's GuideTo start well in Final Fantasy Resonance, give every party member a Vision and keep swapping them to learn their abilities, find each enemy's weakness with Libra and stagger it before it acts, keep a healer in the party, pick up the glowing Tablet Shards for the Oblivion Palace, search off-screen paths for chests, and change the difficulty whenever you like. -
VisionsFinal Fantasy Resonance has 26 Visions, crystallized heroes that each party member equips one at a time for stats, abilities and a Resonance attack. 17 are heroes from earlier Final Fantasy games, from the Warrior of Light to Clive, and 9 are originals; all 26 come from Chapters 1 to 7 and none can be missed. -
Best VisionsThe Vision every major tier list in Final Fantasy Resonance puts at the top is Bartz, followed by Terra; Game8 and DualShockers also rank Sephiroth and Y'shtola highest, and Destructoid favors Cloud, Squall, Shantotto and Tronn. Firion's Arms Akimbo, two actions a turn, is the ability guides most want on everyone. -
WalkthroughFinal Fantasy Resonance has a prologue and eight chapters, from Chapter 1, Tailing the Truth, to Chapter 8, Beyond Hope; each ends with a hidden chapter-clear achievement, the airship arrives between Chapters 4 and 5, and the only point of no return is the final teleport in the Crystal Tower.
-
Achievements and TrophiesFinal Fantasy Resonance has 40 achievements on Steam and Xbox and 40 trophies on PlayStation (1 Platinum, 4 Gold, 7 Silver, 28 Bronze). None is missable or online, difficulty does not matter, and PowerPyx estimates 50 to 60 hours for the Platinum, Ultimate Fantasy, in one playthrough; the hardest is beating Ultima Weapon.
-
Difficulty SettingsFinal Fantasy Resonance has three difficulty settings, Casual, Normal and Expert, and you can switch between them at any time under Options, Gameplay. Expert makes enemies stronger but awards more MRP for leveling Visions, and no trophy or achievement depends on difficulty.
