Chapter 8 Walkthrough

Chapter 8 of Final Fantasy Resonance, Beyond Hope, is the final chapter: the endgame opens (Sephiroth, Dragon's Maw, the Chamber of Arms, the Colosseum's Gladiator League, the last Cave Masters) and the story ends in the Crystal Tower, whose last teleport in the Upper Reach is the point of no return. After the credits a clear save puts you back before the final boss with the whole world open.

Chapter 8 of Final Fantasy Resonance, "Beyond Hope", is the last chapter, and its quest log has one line: "Go to the top of the tower". The tower is the Crystal Tower, the final dungeon, but the chapter also opens everything the game has left: Sephiroth at Whirlpool Hollow, the Dragon's Maw island, the twelve trials of the Chamber of Arms, the Colosseum's Gladiator League and the last Cave Masters. RPG Site (Adam and Bryan Vitale, Oct 22, 2026) says these can be done in any order, and since the clear save after the credits puts you back before the final boss (Game8, Oct 24, 2026), none of them has to come first. Only 0.2% of Steam players had finished the chapter three days after launch.

Spoilers for Chapter 8 follow: the final dungeon and its bosses. The final boss is not named on this page.

First stops: merchant ships, radar and A New Leaf

RPG Site lists three merchant ships with Chapter 8 stock:

Merchant ship Sells Price
South of Zoldaad Magicite Cryst 50,000 gil
Southeast of Mysidia High-Power Generator 60,000 gil
West of Mysidia Ancient Cloak 40,000 gil

Source: RPG Site. PowerPyx says the Merchant Trader also sells the Ancient Tome for 45,000 gil in this chapter (PowerPyx).

Give the High-Power Generator to Lid to upgrade the radar again (PowerPyx says you may already have it from a chest on Mt. Reizan in Chapter 7). RPG Site lists the new radar finds: a Magicite Cryst southeast of Mysidia, a Dark Rosary north of the Crystal Tower, an Evil Eye southwest of Pharm and a Mastery Pendant north of the Grandshelt desert.

Rain's substory, A New Leaf, starts on the airship deck: talk to the king in Grandshelt, an NPC in Mitra, then use the teleport at the end of Waterfall Way. It gives a Knight's Medallion and a stat boost for Rain (RPG Site sub quests), and it is the last of the eight substories for Conscience Renewed.

Optional endgame

Sephiroth waits in a Vision Crystal Sanctum under Whirlpool Hollow, northeast of Kol; hover the airship over the whirlpool (GameRant, Oct 24, 2026). He is open from Chapter 5, but GameRant lists him at level 45 with 250,000 HP and suggests level 60 or more, so Chapter 8 is when most players go. RPG Site warns he counters attacks during his Masamune in Waiting buff, goes immune before One Winged Angel and before dropping your HP to 1, then casts Meteor; cast Reraise early, and Lid's Mechamog Scan gives him an extra weakness. Winning gives a Magicite Cryst and the Vision Sephiroth. Full guide: Sephiroth.

The last Cave Masters. Titanoraidos (weak to Ice; Disaster can inflict Doom) and Malboro Menace (weak to Fire; keep it staggered after Bad Breath) both drop a Megalixir and a Magicite Cryst (RPG Site); PowerPyx lists both at level 60 in the Kingdom of Pharm. See Cave Masters.

Dragon's Maw, at the southern tip of Pharm, is a dungeon you cannot escape from, recommended at level 55 (PowerPyx). Its bosses are Intangir (weak to Light, Earth and Dark; it casts Meteor if you attack it while it sleeps, and at the end of the fight) and the Rogue Magitek Weapon (weak to Water and Lightning). RPG Site lists Excalibur, Masamune, Sniper's Eye, a Magicite Cryst and Tablet Shard 96 inside, and the forest island nearby spawns Metal Gigantuar, King Gil Snapper and Gigantuar for leveling (see EXP, Gil and MRP Farming).

Chamber of Arms. Each of the twelve Legendary Arms has a pedestal trial: once at level 50 to transform the Ancient item, once at level 75 for its "+" version (PowerPyx). The Ancient Katana is in the final dungeon. Full list on Chamber of Arms.

Gladiator League. The third league at the Grandshelt Colosseum pays a Magicite Cryst, a Reflect Ring, a Barrier Ring, a Protect Ring and a second Magicite Cryst; its last battle ends with Last Breath for 100,000 damage, which Reraise survives (RPG Site). Clearing it unlocks Career Fighter. See Colosseum.

The Crystal Tower

Treasure, in RPG Site's order: Tablet Shards 97 and 98, a Pilebunker, Apocalypse up the north ramp, a Pearly Pot that wants an Elixir, Laevateinn and a Megalixir up the left staircase, a hidden second Pearly Pot on the right staircase, Tablet Shard 99 at the fork west of the third platform, the Book of Eibon east of it, a Hastur Long Barrel and a Dragon Whisker on the bridges, and a Faerie Bow and a Magicite Cryst near the last save point. The Ancient Katana chest sits just west of the save point at the airship entrance to the Middle Reach (PowerPyx). RPG Site also lists rare steals here, among them Mjollnir from Cabrakan, a Ribbon from Messalina and a Halo Ring from Dante.

Behemoth is weak to Light and Wind, but RPG Site notes your damage only lands after allies' support attacks, so let the battle's helpers act before you spend big skills. In Sirloin's run it is level 52 and fought on the tower's glowing hexagonal floor.

For a sense of level: PLAYGAMES' growth screen after a Crystal Tower battle shows all eight party members at level 50 or 51, and the party then fights on across the tower's hexagonal crystal floors.

Higher up, the quest log reads "Go to the top of the tower", and a second boss, which RPG Site leaves unnamed, is weak to Dark; in Sirloin's run it is also level 52. Shantotto's Resonance is Dark (Game8).

The final boss comes in two parts: part 1 is weak to Light, part 2 has several parts of its own (RPG Site). Bring Light Resonances, Reraise and your best Limit Bursts. Allowed sources do not name the final boss as of Oct 25, 2026, and neither does this page.

Point of no return

The last teleport in the Crystal Tower, the Upper Reach portal next to the save point, is the point of no return (Game8; RPG Site). Game8 says to finish side quests and collect your best gear first. Three rare steals exist only past it, according to RPG Site: Necronomicon from Belphegor, Demon's Ring from Gluttony and Jackpot Gun from Demon Squid. After the credits you make a clear save that returns you to just before the final boss, with free roam of the whole map (Game8; PowerPyx). There is no New Game Plus. More on Missables.

After the credits

Loading the clear save triggers a scene pointing to Ardra Crater in the southeast, where Ultima Weapon waits: level 70, about 3.9 million HP, weak to Wind and Water (PowerPyx; RPG Site). PowerPyx calls My Name Is Ultima... the hardest trophy and saves it for last, with level 60 to 65 or higher. The Colosseum's Champion League is the other late challenge, but no achievement needs it (Steam). Everything left to do is on Achievements and Trophies.
