Chapter 3 of Final Fantasy Resonance, Wardens of the Aquapolis, takes the party to the Olderion Federation and ends at the Water Shrine with a fight against Alluvion. RPG Site's route covers Olderion (the Aquapolis and its Old Town), the Cave of Waters, Lake Dorr, Waterfall Way, Amore and the Water Shrine (RPG Site, Oct 22, 2026). In Sirloin's full walkthrough, shown here, the chapter opens on the world map with the goal "Go to Olderion, the Aquapolis". Spoilers for Chapter 3 follow.
Olderion, the Aquapolis
Olderion is a city of canals, and in Sirloin's run Nichol remarks that its water has been corrupted. Firion's Sanctum is to the northwest of the crash site, and Tidus and Squall are elsewhere in the Federation, so all three of the chapter's Visions can be picked up on the way (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026; The Outer Haven). If you leave Olderion before its fast travel point is unlocked, Game8 says you can sail back from Grandport Harbor (Game8, Oct 22, 2026).
Game8's Chapter 3 party: Rain with the Warrior of Light or Squall, Lasswell with Cloud or Firion, Fina with Tronn, the Onion Knight or Leah, and Lid with Tronn or Terra, keeping Nichol in reserve while he levels, since his HP and defense start low (Game8, Oct 23, 2026).
Cave of Waters and Nichol
Nichol joins at the Cave of Waters (Game8). The cave's boss is Wave Lopros: level 20, 21,000 HP, weak to Ice, with two Snappers that empower it, so Game8 says to kill them first. In Sirloin's run Nichol says exactly that before the fight: take out the two in front, then the larger monster. Nichol's permanent dialogue choice comes in the Aquapolis: HP +30, Magic +3 or Speed +3 (GameRant, Oct 23, 2026).
Old Town
Save before Old Town: once inside you cannot leave, and Lasswell and Nichol leave the party for a while (Game8). Its boss is the Water Dragon, level 21 with 24,000 HP, weak to Lightning; it attacks twice a turn, so Game8 suggests Protectga, Shellga, Ramuh and Cloud (Game8 boss list, read Oct 25, 2026). Sirloin's frames show the green, many-headed dragon in Old Town's square.
Lake Dorr and Leviathan
At Lake Dorr, Alluvion appears and the party fights Leviathan: level 23, 40,000 HP, weak to Lightning. Game8 says to destroy the Orbs of Light first, checking each orb's weakness, and to use Shellga or Carbuncle for magic defense (Game8 boss list). Leviathan does not join you here: PowerPyx lists him as a Chapter 5 Esper, won through Nichol's substory, Nichol's Duty (PowerPyx).
Archwitch Fina, the second form of Fina, travels with the party for part of this chapter; she becomes a permanent party member in Chapter 5 (Game8, Oct 24, 2026). In Sirloin's run she says she is "not fully recovered just yet". See Fina.
Waterfall Way and the Water Shrine
Waterfall Way leads to the Water Shrine; in Sirloin's run Nichol explains there that the shrine is sealed. Game8 says to talk to Gilgamesh here before the altar (Game8). The Water Shrine's puzzles raise and lower the water and push boxes to build bridges (Game8, same page).
Alluvion, the Water Shrine's boss, is level 26 with 48,000 HP and weak to Lightning. Destroy the Prism Cores, and use a tank with high magic defense wearing Monk's Prayer Beads and a Calm Armlet; he drops the Azure Amulet (Game8 boss list). Sirloin's fight has Archwitch Fina in the party. More on him is on Veritas.
Carbuncle and other optional content
Carbuncle is the chapter's Esper, and there is no fight: collect three Ruby Fragments in the order a riddle gives (southeast of Rukh Cave between two pools; on the east coast southwest of the Sanctum of Squall; west of the seven waterfalls across two bridges), then return to the gravestone (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026). Game8 names Carbuncle in its advice for Leviathan and for two Chapter 4 bosses, Ignis and the Emperor of Zoldaad, so get it early.
| Optional fight | Level | HP | Weak to | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rukh (Cave Master) | 26 | 46,800 | Wind | |
| Mindflayer (Cave Master) | 28 | 52,000 | Earth | Esuna does not work; bring status protection |
| Blood Dragon | 28 | Fire | For the Medicinal Mission sub quest |
Source: Game8 boss list.
Medicinal Mission can also be finished without the Blood Dragon, by buying the cure for 50,000 gil at the Secluded Dwelling or gathering the ingredients (RPG Site, Oct 22, 2026). The Mini Gil Snapper, a good gil target, lives on the western edge of the Olderion Federation from this chapter on (Game8, Oct 23, 2026); see EXP, Gil and MRP Farming. The 3 Destroyers for Lid's Mechabo Evolved sub quest are also in western Olderion (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026).
Bosses in Chapter 3
| Boss | Where | Level | HP | Weak to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wave Lopros | Cave of Waters | 20 | 21,000 | Ice |
| Water Dragon | Old Town | 21 | 24,000 | Lightning |
| Leviathan | Lake Dorr | 23 | 40,000 | Lightning |
| Alluvion | Water Shrine | 26 | 48,000 | Lightning |
Sources: Game8, Game8 boss list.
Three of the four want Lightning, so the Warrior of Light, Cloud and Ramuh from the first two chapters carry this one.
Before you move on
The chapter ends with the goal of sailing on toward Zoldaad. Collect the chapter's 15 Tablet Shards, get Carbuncle, and buy from Olderion's shops, which refresh at the next chapter (RPG Site). Then continue with the Chapter 4 Walkthrough.
