Chapter 5 Walkthrough
Chapter 5 of Final Fantasy Resonance, Scars of Time, gives you the airship, sends you to find the hidden city of Mysidia, adds Sakura and Archwitch Fina to the party for good, and runs through the Arcane Library, the Village of Sunioo, the Nameless Ruins and Fina's Psyche to a last fight with Tellus in the Tower of Mysidia. It opens the most optional content of any chapter: 14 sub quests, five Visions, three Espers and 17 Tablet Shards.
Chapter 5 of Final Fantasy Resonance, "Scars of Time", starts with the airship: the quest log reads "Board the airship outside the imperial capital", and from there the world is mostly open (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026). The story goal is Mysidia, a city you have to find by airship radar; there Sakura joins, Archwitch Fina stays for good, and the chapter ends in the Tower of Mysidia. It is also the chapter where optional content piles up: GameRant counts 14 sub quests opening here, and PowerPyx counts 17 Tablet Shards, the most of any chapter. The route below follows the RPG Site walkthrough by Adam and Bryan Vitale (RPG Site, Oct 22, 2026), with the moments taken from PLAYGAMES' and Sirloin's no-commentary videos.
Spoilers for Chapter 5 follow: who joins, where you go and which bosses you fight.

The airship and finding Mysidia
Board the airship outside Zoldaad's capital to start the chapter. Getting it also unlocks the hidden achievement Airship Enterprise ("Obtain an airship"), which only 5.8% of Steam players had on Oct 25, 2026 (Steam). See Chocobo and Airship for how flying works.
Mysidia does not show on the map until you look for it. GameSpot (Oct 22, 2026) says to press the right trigger to ping the airship's radar, fly to the far south of the map between the Kingdom of Pharm and two small islands, then go a little further south and ping again. In the footage the quest reads "Find Mysidia" and a red marker sits on the sea before the airship drops through the clouds.
Mysidia and Sakura
In Mysidia the quest says "Go to Sakura's house", and Sakura joins the party once you go in (RPG Site; Game8, Oct 24, 2026). Archwitch Fina, who fought with you briefly in Chapter 3, also joins for good in this chapter (Game8), which completes the party of eight. That unlocks Those Who Defy Fate ("Unlock all party members"); PowerPyx notes the eighth member joins automatically, so it cannot be missed. See Sakura and Characters.
Before you leave town, RPG Site lists Tablet Shards 60, 61 and 62 (on the stairs, by the crates near the shops, at the fountain), a Seraphim Bow behind the shops, three Knives of Silence west of the entrance, two Healing Springs in the Potion Factory and a Knight's Sword through the portal east of the factory. The three moogle quests (Mog Tag, More Mog Tag, Even More Mog Tag) ask you to find floating moogles and pay a Mist X-Potion, a Magicite and a Magicite Cryst. Crysts are the third Awakening material, and Chapter 5 is where they first appear (PowerPyx).
Slagworm and the Village of Sunioo
On the way to the Village of Sunioo a giant worm bursts out of the snow. RPG Site lists Slagworm as weak to Wind, dropping a Mist X-Potion; in PLAYGAMES' run the game's target label shows it at level 33 and the party answers with an Esper summon. In Sunioo, RPG Site lists Tablet Shards 64 and 65, two Water Scroll IIs at the inn and a Resonate Staff in an igloo. Sakura's dialogue choice here is a permanent stat boost: MP +10, Magic +3 or Spirit +3 (GameRant, Oct 23, 2026). The quest then points you to the Nameless Ruins.
Visions and Espers you can reach now
Three Sanctums sit on the Mysidia continent: Lightning to the south, Bartz to the north and Vaan to the west (RPG Site). Each works like the earlier ones: a Sanctum's questions, then a montage of the hero's own game, here Vaan's wish "to become a sky pirate". Clive's Sanctum is back in Grandshelt and only reachable by air (PowerPyx). Bartz is the Vision Game8, Destructoid and DualShockers all rank first; see Best Visions.
Sephiroth waits at Whirlpool Hollow, northeast of Kol: hover the airship over the whirlpool (GameRant, Oct 24, 2026). PLAYGAMES went in early in Chapter 5; GameRant lists him at level 45 with 250,000 HP and suggests level 60 or more, so most players come back later. Full strategy is on Sephiroth.
The three Chapter 5 Espers, all from PowerPyx:
| Esper | Where | How |
|---|---|---|
| Ifrit | Volcano in southern Zoldaad | Fly into the smoking crater |
| Shiva | Mysidia's smaller western island | Enter the snowstorm; RPG Site lists her as weak to Fire |
| Leviathan | Olderion | Nichol's substory, Nichol's Duty |
See Espers for what each one does.
Nameless Ruins
The first Tellus fight is in the Nameless Ruins. RPG Site says he is weak to Wind but the battle ends before you can win, so do not spend items. The locked chest here opens if you touch the Statue of a Broken Sword, then the Statue of a Withered Horse, then the Statue of Darkness Sealed next to the chest; it holds Tyr's Armor (159 physical defense, 93 magic defense, -38 Speed, +250 HP and auto-Protect below half HP), wearable by Rain, Lasswell, Lid and Jake (GameRant, Oct 23, 2026). RPG Site also lists Tablet Shards 66 and 67 and a Magi-Blaster; the Impact Wand in the last room has to wait until later in the story.
Arcane Library and Byblos
Back in the Arcane Library a white mage asks you to deal with books haunted by monsters. The area card shows a recommended level of 36, and the quest reads "Defeat the monster tomes in the Arcane library (0/5)". Beating all five Monster Tomes opens the blue warp to the last room, where RPG Site lists Tablet Shard 68 and a Book of Strength; grab the items up the ladders before you trigger the boss.
Byblos is weak to Dark and Fire (RPG Site). In PLAYGAMES' fight it is level 36 and leaves Lasswell confused partway through, so keep a way to cure status ailments ready.
Fina's Psyche and the Tower of Mysidia
Fina's Psyche comes in two parts with the Tower of Mysidia between them. RPG Site lists Tablet Shards 69 to 71 in part 1, 72 to 75 in the tower (with a Magicite, a Bullseye Mace and a Guarding Gown) and 76 in part 2, along with a Barrel Blazer and a Lunar Whip. A boss inside the Psyche, which RPG Site keeps unnamed as a spoiler, is weak to Light and Water and drops a Ribbon.
The chapter ends with Tellus again, this time for real. RPG Site says he is weak to Wind and drops a Golem Core; in Sirloin's run the unit info shows Tellus at level 39, and the battle result lists 15,000 EXP and the Golem Core. Wind Visions and Jake, who is attuned to wind (Game Informer, Oct 20, 2026), are the obvious picks. Clearing the chapter unlocks In Search of the Truth, held by 1.4% of Steam players three days after launch (Steam, Oct 25, 2026).
Sub quests and side content that open
GameRant's list of the 14 sub quests that open in Chapter 5: Rogue Rebel, The Call from Beyond, O General! My General!, Nichol's Duty, Forger of Wills, Beyond the Blue, Mog Tag, More Mog Tag, Even More Mog Tag, Mechabo Unleashed, Battle at the Big Bridge, Victoria Revivified, Token Legacy and Errand's End (GameRant, Oct 22, 2026). The ones worth doing first:
| Sub quest | Where it starts | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| The Call from Beyond | Bewildered Man, Zoldaad Residential District | Vision: Camille and a Magicite |
| O General! My General! | Ozetta, Zoldaad Castle Plaza (after The Call from Beyond) | Vision: Wilhelm and a Magicite Cryst |
| Forger of Wills | Gossiping Girl, Dilmagia | Vision: Aileen and a Magicite; she later crafts weapons from Adamantite |
| Victoria Revivified | Victoria, by the northeast save point in Mysidia (after Sunioo) | Vision: Victoria and a Magicite |
| Errand's End | Drofox Gazette board, Zoldaad Imperial Hotel (after Token Legacy) | Vision: Amelia and a Magicite |
| Rogue Rebel | Simon, Rebel Hideout | Magicite and Rose Circlet |
| Token Legacy | Sleep at an inn after the Nameless Ruins | Trick Coin and a stat boost for Jake |
| Mechabo Unleashed | Verun at Dwarven Forge | Overclock Zero, then Mechamog Scan and a Magicite Cryst |
| Battle at the Big Bridge | Gilgamesh on the airship deck | Genji Armor |
| Nichol's Duty | Nichol, Olderion | Esper: Leviathan (PowerPyx); Enchanted Ring and a stat boost for Nichol (RPG Site) |

Sources disagree on two of these. PowerPyx puts Amelia in Chapter 6 and GameRant in Chapter 5; PowerPyx lists Aileen's Vision in Chapter 5 while its trophy roadmap has her joining the airship in Chapter 6 (PowerPyx). Mechamog Scan, the reward at the end of Mechabo Unleashed, gives a boss an extra weakness for the whole fight, which GameRant recommends for Sephiroth; its last step (three Malbodooms in western Gronoa) needs Chapter 6.
Gilgamesh appears on the airship deck for an event fight in which he goes invulnerable at times; RPG Site notes he may not show up until other events are cleared. Details are on Gilgamesh, and what that fight means for the Genji Gloves is on Missables.
Optional bosses and dungeons
The airship opens the rest of the Cave Masters (PowerPyx), the Chamber of Arms on the mountain island northwest of Dirnado, and Dragon's Maw at Pharm's southern tip, which PowerPyx recommends at level 55. The Colosseum's Brawler League also opens after Chapter 5 (RPG Site); see Colosseum.
| Cave Master | Level (GameRant) | Weakness | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Salome | 39 | Wind | Charm attacks: buy Monk's Prayer Beads |
| Jotunn | 42 | Fire, Dark | |
| Malboro Varietas | 45 | Fire | |
| Catacumba | 54 | Fire, Light | Inflicts Doom |
| Tartarosaurus | 50 (GameRant) or 60 (PowerPyx) | Ice | South-central island of Pharm |

Before you move on
- Turn in Tablet Shards at Oblivion Palace: 60 shards trigger the Memento achievement (PowerPyx).
- Buy what you need: RPG Site warns that equipment shops refresh each chapter.
- Start Mechabo Unleashed now so its Gronoa step is ready in Chapter 6.
- Nothing in Chapter 5 is lost if you push on: PowerPyx says every Vision, Esper, Cave Master and Tablet Shard stays available in free roam after the story.
The story continues in Chapter 6 Walkthrough. The whole route is on Walkthrough, and every boss is in one table on Bosses.
