Bosses

Every story boss in Final Fantasy Resonance by chapter, with its weakness and, where a source or the game's own unit info gives them, its level and HP: from Belmodar (level 4, weak to Fire and Dark) in Chapter 1 to the two-part final boss of Chapter 8 (part 1 weak to Light). Stagger bosses before their Limit Bursts, hit the listed weakness, and kill minions first.

Final Fantasy Resonance has a boss at the end of almost every dungeon, and nearly all of them have an elemental weakness worth planning around: hit it, break the stagger gauge before the boss's big attack, and clear its helpers first. In IGN's early boss footage the party says it plainly as a tank-like machine charges: "We're done for if it hits us with that blast. Get it before it charges up." This page lists every story boss by chapter. Chapters 1 to 4 use Game8's table (read Oct 25, 2026); Game8 had not added later chapters yet, so Chapters 5 to 8 use the weaknesses in RPG Site's walkthrough (Oct 22, 2026) and the levels and HP the game's own unit info shows in Sirloin's and PLAYGAMES' no-commentary videos.

Spoilers follow: boss names for every chapter. The final boss is not named.

Quick facts

First boss Belmodar, Earth Shrine: level 4, 2,000 HP
Toughest story boss The final boss (two parts) in the Crystal Tower

Optional superbosses Sephiroth, Ultima Weapon, the Champion League
Damage cap 9,999 until Terra's Break the Limit raises it to 99,999
Hardest achievement My Name Is Ultima... (PowerPyx)

How to beat bosses

A battle screen filled with radiating light and confetti and the large words SWEEPING STAGGER. Two enemy health bars read STAGGERED, and the party bars at the bottom name Rain, Lasswell, Nichol and Jake with their HP and MP.
The words "Sweeping Stagger" burst across the screen as two enemies are marked Staggered, with Rain, Lasswell, Nichol and Jake in the party in an official Steam store screenshot of Final Fantasy Resonance. Square Enix
  • Watch the timeline. A boss glowing red on the turn order is about to use its Limit Burst; stagger it first or Defend (The Outer Haven, Oct 20, 2026). Staggering an enemy before its turn cancels that action (Game8).
  • Break gauges for free turns. Breaking a stagger gauge gives a Bonus Phase; breaking every enemy in one turn is a Sweeping Stagger, worth extra party turns and a Resonance at the end. Enemies above your level take less gauge damage (Game8). More on Combat.
  • Kill helpers first. Hell's Rider's Dark Skeletons, Wave Lopros's Snappers, Leviathan's Orbs of Light, Alluvion's Prism Cores, the Emperor's soldiers and Lazarov's experiments all make their boss harder while they live (Game8).
  • Scout the weakness. Lid's Mechamog Scan, from the Mechabo Unleashed sub quest, adds a weakness for the whole fight when used on turn 1 (GameRant, Oct 24, 2026); scrolls deal an element you lack (Game8).
  • Use Espers. An Esper costs 50 MP, fights three turns and leaves with a finisher; Carbuncle reflects magic, which Game8 recommends against Ignis and the Emperor of Zoldaad.
  • Undead tip. Healing items hurt undead enemies and a Phoenix Down kills them outright (Game8).

The game tells you a lot itself. Opening a boss's unit info shows its level, HP, resistances, traits and drops; in Sirloin's run Lux's card reads level 41, 75,000 HP, "Uses Blind attacks", "Dispels buffs" and a Halo Ring drop. Check it at the start of each fight.

Chapters 1 to 4

The first real wall is Siren at the top of Siren's Tower: level 11, weak to Lightning, and at about half HP she charms the whole party with Allure, so GameSpot recommends Monk's Prayer Beads or Leah's Nullify Charm (GameSpot, Oct 22, 2026). Beating her makes her an Esper.

Aether, the Veritas of the Heavens (The Outer Haven, Sep 3, 2026), is Chapter 2's last boss, in the Wind Shrine. Give everyone but Lasswell an Ice Vision (Tronn, Terra or Noctis) and kill his summoned minions fast (Game8); The Outer Haven adds Cloud for stagger and says to heal through his Heavenly Wind Limit Burst.

Each chapter's walkthrough has the fights in context: Chapter 5 Walkthrough, Chapter 6 Walkthrough, Chapter 7 Walkthrough and Chapter 8 Walkthrough.

Umbra, whom PSU calls the leader of the Sworn Six (PSU, Oct 20, 2026), is the boss you meet first as a scripted loss in Chapter 1 and finally beat in Chapter 7. In Sirloin's run the battle result shows 50,000 EXP, 21,000 gil, 390 MRP and the Demon's Ring. Bring Light: Cecil's Knight of Duality and Firion's Weaponsmaster are both Light Resonances (Game8).

Optional bosses

Most Espers are optional fights. Ramuh at the peak of Mt. Thunderclap is level 20 with 24,000 HP and weak to Earth; Game8 suggests buying Earth Scrolls at the Dwarven Forge first (Game8). IGN's preview footage shows the fight from his warning onward. Every Esper is on Espers.

Ultima Weapon is the last fight most players take on. PowerPyx beat it around level 60, calls it easier than Sephiroth, and opens with Fina using Dualcast Reraise on all four allies on turns 1 and 2; before Ultima Beam (an exclamation mark and red flames on its HP bar) Sakura's Eternal Veil protects the party (PowerPyx). CGInferno's fight shows it from its first line, "None shall stand in my path."
